About Our School
Tibberton CE First School
We are a small Church of England Voluntary Controlled First School. We have a single form intake every year with 15 pupils per year group. We have strong links with our local parish church community - The Church of St. Peter-ad-Vincula.
These links include:
Visits to the school by local clergy e.g to take collective worship. Involvement in the governance of the school. School services held in conjunction with the church throughout the year. The school is also advised, supported and inspected by the local Diocesan Board of Education.
What does 'Voluntary Controlled' mean?
The school is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled First School. As such it owes its origin to the Church although since the 1944 Education Act it is the Local Authority that has been responsible for meeting the costs of the upkeep, repairs and conduct of the school.
The Local Authority also organises admission to the school. Membership of the Church of England is not a criterion for admission.
The school's voluntary status is reflected in the composition of the Governing Body which has foundation governors elected in consultation with the P.C.C. of the Church of St. Peter-ad-Vincula.
